Mr Alex Davies
I am very proud to welcome you to the website of Burghill Community Academy. I hope it will give you a flavour of our school and its vision; painting a picture of the opportunities offered to our children as they develop into creative, resourceful and resilient learners.
We are lucky that our school is set in the heart of the beautiful Herefordshire countryside within fantastic grounds and facilities. We generally have between 90 and 100 children on roll, taught in 4 classes in a safe friendly and welcoming learning environment by a talented staff team with the highest expectations for every child. We strive to teach a creative and varied curriculum, enriched by a range of opportunities and experiences both and in and out of the classroom.
We follow the principles of a Values Education school and are proud that our children demonstrate good manners and respect at all times; recognising their responsibilities in contributing to a successful wider community.
It is our aim to develop resourceful and responsible young people who have successfully acquired the essential learning skills that they will need for life. We look forward to welcoming you and your children to our happy and popular school.
Covid-19 Catch up fund:
The Government has provided additional funds for schools to support pupils to catch up for lost teaching during the school closure in the Summer of 2020. Please see the document to see how we have used these funds.
You will notice in the document that we have spent more than what we have been allocated; this is due to the Senior Leadership and Governors prioritising this need and allocating further funds from the school budget.
Curriculum Recovery Action Plan:
As an Academy we have looked at the ways in which we can help all children 'recover' from the lost learning during the National Lockdown. The plan attached demonstrates all the processes we will look at through this academic year.
All pupils returned to full time education from the start of the Autumn term 2020 at Burghill. From this point there is still a risk of localised lockdowns or 'bubbles having to self isolate. Please read our Remote Learning Policy if this should happen.
Our most recent Ofsted inspection report (December 2019) celebrates our "good" school.
Check out our Academy's performance on the DfE School Performance Table Website.
If you require any information from the website in paper copy, please contact the school office.
